Adarsh rural development society was formed in July 2000 & registered in March 2001. The society formed by group of young educated dynamic professionals including Doctors, Engineers, Educationist and others.

Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi had said’ if we want our nation to prosper we have to start in the villages. In the year 2000/2001 a group of young motivated young professionals decided to transform this vision into a force that would help many villagers take control of their own life. They would no longer be hapless onlookers as cities changed their skyline and their way of life was endangered. Since its inception ARDS has functioned on 4 pillars of Education, , Health, Self employment and Co-operation. It has been an arduous and uphill task to negotiate the opposition by villagers to changes suggested by outsiders. But then the Philosophy and principle of ARDS has always been Co-operation. As suggested by the Panchayat Raj concepts, it was decided to delegate the responsibility of carrying out activities at the grassroot level to the local communities. Villagers assess their needs , suggest solutions and the projects thereof are coordinated by our highly dedicated team of professionals. The committee members decided to initiate change, monitor the progress and only intervene if necessary. Involvement and co-operation of the villagers have made our mission of self sufficiency and wellbeing come true. The Govt of India has delegated to ARDS the responsibilities for implementing the RCH - II in our area of functioning.

As the chairman I thank you for visiting the ARDS website and I encourage you to participate with us in giving rural India a new direction.
